Fancy balconies

One of countless churches in Ragusa

Fat man on a bike

I met this man on the train. He lives in Ragusa and takes his exercise buy cycling downhill to Modica and then catching the train back. I can see some merit in that. Oh I forgot to mention Ragusa is at 500 mtrs.

Ragusa

I've finally arrived. Now I've got to find a B&B.

Amazingly high road bridges.

Presumably built with EU money

On the plus side though the scenery is spectacular.

Eventually the train arrived

There are two passengers and three staff. The ticket for a two hour ride is €5.75. I am not sure that this is running at a profit!

Sicilian rail

The train is now 25 mins late. There is no information board with live times on it. The ticket office is closed. There is nowhere to sit. The previous train, going back to Catania, has just gone through half an hour late on the wrong track. I'm wondering if this is a good idea.

Noto

The inhabitants of Noto seem to have used all their energy to build baroque churches and they are enormous. It's ridiculous. I've seen enough baroque architecture to last me the rest of my life.

Man and performing bird.

He kept shouting at it but it wouldn't do whatever it was supposed to do.

On the train to Noto

So now I am sitting on the train. I actually wanted a bus but the railway station is nearby so I had a look at the timetable and the next one to leave, in 15 minutes is to Gela. Gela is on the bottom of Sicily and the line passes through many interesting places. So I am getting off at the second stop which is Noto. Later on I may get back on and travel to Ragusa.
Oh and the ticket is €3.45. A bargain!
