So I've eventually made it and found a very nice B&B. As usual in Sicily the town is at the top of a hill. This a photo of one of the umpteen Doric temples that I have come to see, (taken from a mile away), described by somebody as "the most beautiful city of mortals". It will involve walking down the hill and then back up again tomorrow. I might stop two days here.
Got the train to Gela and then had to wait an hour for a bus to Licata where I am currently waiting for another bus to Agrigento. The public transport here is awful. There are hardly any timetables and those that are displayed are covered in graffiti and look out of date. There doesn't seem to be any kind of route map. The only way to discover how to get around is by talking to someone but then they hardly speak any English, so I have to use sign language and point at the map. Here an African with two huge bags of clothes on a trolley indicated that I was to follow him and he lead me up back streets to a bus stop with a little cafe next to it and indicated that I had to go inside which I did and now I have a ticket to Agrigento. Just an hour to wait.
I've had a wander round Comiso whilst I wait for my train and found this memorial in a park. Almost all the stones have the word 'assassinate' on them, but whether the mafia did the assassination isn't clear. Some have second world war type dates.
